Valentine’s Email Marketing Strategy For This DTC Wellness Brand Turned 4 Simple Emails into $1,873 Revenue (With No Discounts)

Because everyone is trying to sell something on Valentine’s, your only way to actually standing out in inboxes and turning clicks into cash is sending the right emails, to the right people, at the right time.

That’s what we did with our client Yoni Rescue. It’s an  e-commerce wellness brand with products like body oils, fragrances, feminine hygiene oils etc.

We’ll break down our strategy for you below explaining how we generated $1,873 in revenue during the Valentine’s week with no extra discounts, no over-the-top sales pitches—just smart, strategic email marketing.

By the end of this read, you’ll learn how precision, personalization, and creative storytelling can improve your email marketing game.

RIGHT EMAILS

Spot-On Subject Lines – Standing out in a crowded inbox meant crafting subject lines that sparked curiosity, urgency, and desire. A/B testing helped fine-tune what worked best. Avoiding spam-triggering words ensured that the emails landed in the primary inbox rather than the spam folder.

Quick Tip: Keep subject lines under 50 characters and use personalization to increase open rates.

Some examples include:

✔️The Essence of YOU, (first name) ❤️
✔️ Which Goddess Are You? 💌✨
✔️
The Scent of a Woman. The Scent of YOU

The Right Products for the Right People – For Yoni Rescue, we didn’t just promote everything in their store. We focused on their best-selling, most gift-worthy products—things their audience would love to give (or receive) on Valentine’s Day.

Every email had a unique concept in order to engage more audience. For example, to make the experience more engaging, we created a campaign centered around female archetypes, where each archetype was matched with a curated product bundle. This personalization made the campaign feel thoughtful rather than sales-driven.

Engaging, Persuasive Content – The emails weren’t just “BUY NOW” messages. Each one was carefully crafted with storytelling, emotional appeal, and subtle urgency to nudge the reader toward making a purchase.

Since Yoni Rescue’s audience is primarily women, we flipped the traditional Valentine’s script. Instead of waiting for someone else to buy them a gift, we encouraged them to celebrate themselves. This resonated deeply and drove higher engagement. Rather than pushing hard sales, we crafted messages with storytelling and emotional appeal. To sweeten the deal, we included a 14% discount and free shipping, making it easier to convert without devaluing the brand.

Quick Tip: Align your messaging with emotions and personal empowerment to create a deeper connection with your audience.

Follow up emails

Klaviyo’s follow up email automation definitely worked wonders for this email campaign. We set up retargeting sequences for:

🕵️ Engaged users in the last 30 days
🕵️
Engaged users in the last 60 days
🕵️
Engaged users in the last 90 days

A follow-up email to non-openers drove the highest conversion rates, proving that persistence pays off.

Design

In terms of design, we made sure we gave it a Valentine’s feel by using a color palette that went well with the concept of valentines. Hues of red, pink were dispersed throughout the template. Even the CTAs were of different colours than usual to make the template stand out. In order to reiterate our point of self love, we also used different creatives between the emails to give the audience reasons to love themselves over others.

The language and tonality was consistent throughout the email template whether it was the copy or the design. Several elements were put together to make sure we had the most visually appealing emails.

Quick Tip: Make sure your email design instantly communicates the theme and message to drive engagement.

Additionally, the offer was reiterated at the top of every email in a strip format, making it impossible to miss.

RIGHT PEOPLE

Audience Segmentation – Not everyone wants the same thing. We categorized their subscribers based on past purchases, engagement levels, and preferences. This allowed them to tailor offers and recommendations that truly resonated. Creative segments based on Customer Lifetime Value, VIP segments who’ve purchased more than twice in the past along with some engaged segments worked in our favour.

All the above segments received tailored messages that resonated with their behavior and preferences. This ensured that every recipient got an offer they were more likely to act on.

Quick Tip: When segmenting audiences, pay close attention to how you use “AND” and “OR” conditions. Experiment with different segment combinations instead of relying on standard templates.

RIGHT TIME

Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest times of the year for inboxes. Every brand is competing for attention, and standing out can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. But when you have the right strategy in place, the noise works in your favor.

Perfect Timing – The emails weren’t just sent randomly. The campaign was strategically scheduled to hit inboxes when customers were most likely to open and take action. We analyzed past campaign data to determine the best time slots for maximum engagement and conversions. Emails were scheduled strategically to align with high-engagement windows, ensuring they didn’t get lost in the Valentine’s Day inbox chaos.

Learnings – What We Took Away From This Campaign

Segmentation is Key – Sending the right message to the right audience is far more effective than blasting emails to everyone.

Follow-Ups Increase Conversions – Retargeting non-openers and engaged users significantly boosts revenue.

Emotional Storytelling Works – Selling a feeling rather than a product creates a more meaningful connection with your audience.

Design Enhances the Message – Visually appealing emails help communicate the theme instantly and drive engagement.

Small, Thoughtful Offers Work Better Than Heavy Discounts – A 14% discount + free shipping felt exclusive without devaluing the brand.

The Power of Smart Email Marketing

Valentine’s Day is a competitive season for brands, but Yoni Rescue’s campaign proves that you don’t need a massive budget or extreme discounts to win. A strategic approach with audience segmentation, engaging content, and precise timing can drive impressive results.

These insights aren’t limited to Valentine’s Day. By applying the same principles—personalization, storytelling, retargeting, and design—you can create impactful email campaigns year-round.

So, whether it’s Mother’s Day, Black Friday, or a new product launch, remember: the magic lies in the details.
